WORKSHOPS
MEDITATION CLASSES
"In meditation we are sometimes more like the audience, while our thoughts are the actors. What happens, if nobody comes to see the performance?" - Eknath Easwaran

Did you ever realize that your mind is never really quiet? Especially nowadays, with the constant overflow of information and sensory overload it isn't easy to silence thoughts. Meditation helps us to cultivate an inactive state of mind, but it can be challenging to do this alone. I often hear people say "I can't meditate" or "I tried but at some point I gave up". Well, that's why I'm here, for you :)
My advice is: start small! (This can be translated into many other aspects of life, btw). Often we set our goals too hight and become dissatisfied when we don't achieve them straight away. Consistency is the key. Maybe just take five minutes daily: sit comfortably and count your breath - nothing more, nothing less. It is absolutely normal that your mind is going to wander off - don't let that get you down!
If you would like to learn more about meditation just visit me in one of my classes in Vienna or feel free contact me!
The meditation classes are taking place in my cosy Shala in Kaltenleutgeben (about 30 min. from Vienna).
PRANAYAMA CLASSES
"If the mind is the king of the senses, then the breath is the master of the mind."
-Svatmarama

Pranayama, in (very) short, are various breathing exercises which consist of inhalation (puraka), retention (kumbhaka) & exhalation (rechaka). If done correctly, the parasympathetic nervous system will be activated, which helps us to center ourselves and to quiet the mind - therefore it has a beneficial effect on our overall physical wellbeing.
I integrate Pranayama in all my Asana classes, but also teach Pranayama-Only classes in a private setting. These classes then come with a bit more theory as well as philosophy.
TRADTITIONAL THAI YOGA MASSAGE
KIRTAN
Especially in the Viennese summer months we gather outdoors to chant and play music together. If you like to join my friends and me to get lost in some mantras, please feel free to contact me. Everybody brings snacks (and maybe some instruments) to make this gathering even more joyful.
The Kirtan will happen again on Sundays (~12:00pm) from July onwards, at the Prater Hauptallee (close to the Carl-Michael-Ziehrer-Denkmal). The Kirtan is based on donations (to fix my beloved, but broken harmonium).
YOGA NIDRA - Yogic Sleep
Yoga Nidra can be seen as a form of guided meditation, often starting with a body scan. You lay comfortably on the floor and listen to my voice until your mind settles in a state between wakefulness and sleep.
The benefits of Yoga Nidra, amongst others, is the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, which relaxes the body and clears the mind. With more practice you become more focused, which is beneficial for your cognitive function and therefore improves your memory.
